Polyurethane glue is a high-efficiency adhesive, mainly used in general woodworking. When this fast-acting glue hardens on surfaces, it can create bonds that seem forever. Due to its properties, polyurethane adhesive is one of the most difficult adhesives to remove using traditional methods. Using the proper cleaning material is key to successful removal. Acetone is a chemical solvent commonly found in nail polish removers that can help dissolve the glue and make it easier to remove.

1. Prepare a well-ventilated area to prevent inhalation of harmful fumes from acetone. If your workspace is indoors, open a window.

2. Put on a pair of protective gloves and apply a small amount of the chemical to a rag or cotton pad. Wipe it directly onto the glue stain, being careful not to touch any unaffected areas as too much acetone may cause damage.

3. Allow time for the acetone to soak in the polyurethane before attempting to remove it. Wait at least 5 to 10 minutes for the glue to soften.

4. Use a plastic spatula to loosen the softened glue until it completely peels off the surface. If any stubborn film remains, simply apply more remover.

5. Wrap any residual glue with a paper towel and dispose of it. Clean any stubborn film-affected surfaces with a suitable household cleaner.
